Facilities

At Reynella South we are proud of the facilities we offer students and their families and we have recently undergone extensive changes to many of the facilities in the school.

Library/Resource Centre
The primary aims of the Resource Centre are to promote a love of reading and to extend children’s experiences through a variety of books. Children are encouraged to borrow regularly. A major part of the Resource Centre’s function is to co-operate with teachers in the planning and teaching of effective programmes using the best resources available.Parental involvement is essential for the efficient functioning of the Resource Centre and helpers are always welcome, eg. book processing, story telling, shelving books.

We have a teacher librarian on site who drives our annual participation in the Premiers Reading Challenge and book week, and in conjunction with teachers can provide research based learning for students. Students from preschool to year 7 are able to borrow up to five books from the large range available in the resource centre.

Computer Suite & ICT
Keeping up to date with advances in technology is an important focus of the school. Each classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards as well as additional computers to compliment the whiteboards. Our computer suite is located next to the library and is currently capable of hosting up to thirty students at any one time.

Science Room / Kitchen
The addition of our new science room with kitchen area is a welcome addition to our facilities. All students participate in Science and Design & Technology each week which is facilitated by our specialist teacher. Students take part in a variety of activities, often based on a common theme, e.g. astronomy, space etc. The newly developed Science room gives students a specialist area that accommodates all aspects of students learning in Science.

Vegetable Garden

The school garden also provides the opportunity for the students to learn sustainable practices as well as food preparation.

Breakfast Club

A healthy breakfast  helps children start the day well, fuelling their minds for learning and providing the energy they need to get through the day. Breakfast is served by volunteers and staff each morning before school , in partnership with Kick Start program.

Facilities For Hire
Our school has two carpeted activity rooms, hall and oval for hire by outside groups. Arrangements to hire these facilities can be made through the school reception area.
